20. Handling Text

Handling Text

Filler Text

Add only filler text. This refers to the placeholder text instead of meaningful content used to depict visual forms. The purpose behind it is to not leave large spaces blank where we want text.

Useful suggestions:

Use the text boxes as an opportunity for the audience to ask questions and offer specific wording they might like to see in the paragraphs.
Create order with a text hierarchy

Seek Feedback

Once you feel you prototype is ready to present to the target audience for feedback, look for others that might be able to meet with you 1-on-1 to give you feedback. The purpose behind is to gain certainty about what is being presented and catching any glaring errors that need to be resolved before showcasing these issues to a broader group.

Incorporate their feedback into the design to show them how mutable the dashboard still is at this stage.
The feedback does not need to offer the BEST advice, but the next best step should take you closer to the optimal solution.

Presenting Prototype

Lead with the objective of the dashboard

In this stage, lead with the objective of the dashboard. The purpose behind this presentation is to keep the feedback focused on helping you get closer to your goal. By reinstating the objective you are also helping to keep the meeting productive by making sure everyone is staying aligned with the objective.

Talk through each element

Talk through each element on the screen. For instance, the meaning is meant to convey and intended functionality.

The purpose of this feedback session is to look for gaps that prevent users from achieving the objective of this dashboard. Seek answers to questions like do we need to incorporate more data? Do you need more specifics on the metrics that need to be calculated? Who else can you share this with for feedback?
